about the artist

Gonzalo Filgueiras was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1952. He graduated from the National School of Graphic Arts in his native city as a Publicist Designer. He then attended several decoration and painting courses.

As a self-taught cartoonist, Gonzalo created his own characters and published several comic strips in magazines and newspapers. He was encouraged by other professional cartoonists to pursue his form of art.

During the 70's, Gonzalo was attracted to Pop-Art, then the Surrealists of the 80's and, in the 90's he has been linked to Abstract Art.

This present collection is based on the artists' childhood impressions and his drawings from when he was just five years old. At that age, he drew endlessly not knowing the outcome... he then adapted his childhood pictures to his present technique by decorating the doors of his old country cottage. Friends fell in love with the idea and, as a result, Gonzalo decided to continue these drawings by showing them to the public, for everyone to enjoy.
